Today I got in my car and my "check engine" light was off. This isn't because I fixed the problem. And the light may come back on soon. I ignored the problem in the hopes that it would go away. This seems to have worked this time. I suspected, from the error code and what I had done before (over-filling the reservoir, may be related. I meant to empty some of the coolant and see if that stopped the problem. I never did. I know my car is leaking coolant and it must have leaked enough to be below the over-filled level. Today the light was off. We'll see if it stays off.
I still haven't bought a new water heater. I know I should have. I took the money out of my emergency fund for it already. But I never got around to buying it. I am worried because the person I want to help me install it is constantly busy. So I might have to just get it installed professionally, which will double the cost.
I was out in the garage last night and there is a puddle all around the washer and the water heater. This can't be good. As much as I want a spending freeze, I am going to have to get that taken care of. It's getting worse and it's not going to resolve itself. I hate to pay someone almost $500 to install a new one but I am worried that not fixing it soon will cause the washer to start rusting. That will cost me more than $500 right there.
I don't think I've repaired my Cr-48 either. I am still getting errors. They "appear" to be drive errors but that seems unlikely (especially since it's the same location as before). I hope it's not something unrepairable (like an error on the motherboard relating to drive communications).
Kevin I know its hard but consider it preventative maintenance. If you get the new water heater now you will save yourself money and frustration in the end. Nothing would be worse then having it go overnight and refilling itself all night long. Just imagine the water bill.
